Special Delivery - Dalmatian Stamps from the Doghouse Gallery
"In 1887 the first "Dog Stamp" was issued in Newfoundland, and featured, appropriately enough, the Newfoundland dog. The United States followed suite in 1893. It wasn't long before the dog had become a popular subject to illustrate postage stamps worldwide. Currently, more than four thousand issues feature dogs, and out of those, it is estimated that only about one quarter show an identifiable breed."
At the end of this page is a reference to Boswells from whom these issues may be purchased - framed or loose. Enjoy.
